About Red Sky Yoga
Welcoming Movement, Vitality, and Community to Every Body
Red Sky Yoga began with a simple belief: that gentle movement should be available to everyone, at every stage of life and that you shouldn’t have to be flexible, experienced, or able to get down on the floor to feel its benefits.
Most of the people we teach are 55 and better. Some come to ease stiffness or manage discomfort. Some want better balance and stronger bones. Others simply want a quiet moment in a busy week.
Our classes are easy-going and unhurried. We use plain language instead of Sanskrit, and props like blocks, straps, and chairs so every pose can be adapted to you.
We also believe strongly in stillness. Alongside the physical practice, we take time to slow down, breathe, and rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
What yoga is best for seniors?
Gentle styles that move slowly and give your body support are a great place to start. Chair yoga uses a sturdy chair for balance and comfort, and gentle mat yoga is floor-based with fewer transitions to protect your joints.
The best style is the one that feels comfortable and that you enjoy enough to keep doing. You can explore both in our on-demand classes.
How often should a 70-year-old do yoga?
Practice yoga as often as feels good for your body. Once a week is a great place to start, and you can adjust your routine based on how you feel.
Listen to your body, take breaks whenever you need to, and ask your doctor what is right for you.
What is chair yoga, and is it a real workout?
Chair yoga is yoga practiced seated, or with a chair for support. Our chair classes follow the shape of a full yoga class: grounding and breathing, accessible movement for strength and joint ease, and a restorative relaxation to finish.
It is gentle on your body, yet it builds strength, balance, and flexibility over time.
Do I need experience or special equipment?
No experience is needed. All you need is a sturdy chair or a mat and comfortable clothes.
We use plain language instead of Sanskrit and show you how to use props like blocks, straps, and chairs, so every pose can be adapted to you.
Is yoga safe if I have arthritis or balance issues?
Gentle, supported yoga is often a good fit. Our classes offer modifications for every body, joint-friendly movement, and a chair for support when you need it.
Because every body is different, please check with your doctor before starting, especially if you have osteoporosis, severe arthritis, balance concerns, or recent surgery.
